At Maidu Dental, patient safety, convenience, and comfort are our top priorities. By utilizing the latest in advanced dental technology and training, our family dentists can provide unparalleled expert care for our patients. Read on to learn more about the innovative tools used in our practice.
Digital X-rays
Our x-ray system is completely digital. This means the amount of radiation emitted is 90 percent less than traditional units. In addition to being a safe and effective option, digital x-rays allow the doctors to manipulate the images, viewing them with a higher contrast or zooming in where necessary. This provides the utmost accuracy when diagnosing dental issues.
Intraoral Camera
Some areas of the oral cavity are difficult to see with the naked eye. Our intraoral camera allows the doctors to visualize hard-to-see areas for a more accurate diagnosis. We can also take high-quality photographs to help our patients better understand their condition.
Digital Impressions
Gone are the days of messy, uncomfortable dental impressions. Our digital impressions can be taken using a simple handheld digital wand, which takes thousands of images of your teeth, then stitches them together to create a lifelike onscreen model. This technique reduces or altogether eliminates the gag reflex that so many patients, unfortunately, experience with traditional impressions.
Comfort Control™ Syringe
Did you know that the discomfort from a dental injection is actually caused by the flow of medication into the tissues, rather than the needle itself? Our Comfort Control Syringe is an innovative alternative to conventional anesthesia injections. This delivery device is pre-programmed to control the administration of anesthetic for optimal patient comfort.
Oral Cancer Screening
According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, only 57 percent of those diagnosed with oral cancer will survive past the five-year mark. This is primarily due to the fact that oral cancer is more difficult to treat when it is diagnosed in its later stages. This is why standard oral cancer screenings are so vital to long-term health. Our doctors perform a screening during every routine examination. This simple process typically only takes about five minutes to complete and can save your life.
CAD/CAM
Computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) are methods used to create and craft dental restorations quickly, accurately, and efficiently. Our CAD/CAM technology allows our doctors to digitally design a restoration, such as a dental crown, chairside. Once the virtual restoration is designed for a custom fit, the image files are sent to our in-office milling station, which can craft your final crown in a matter of minutes. CAD/CAM technology can also be used to fabricate crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, onlays, and more. This revolutionary method often allows for faster treatment. Depending on the case, patients can sometimes receive their final crown in a single office visit.
DIAGNOdent™ Laser Cavity Screening
Our innovative DIAGNOdent pen can detect cavities using laser fluorescence technology. This helps our doctors diagnose tooth decay while it is still in its early stages. Approved by the American Dental Association and the FDA, DIAGNOdent is an excellent supplemental tool for traditional cavity detection.
Laser Dentistry
Our soft tissue diode laser is used for gum reshaping and gum treatments. This specialized laser can target infected tissue while leaving healthy tissue untouched. It can also sterilize and seal periodontal pockets to reduce bacteria that cause gum disease.
